I drive a stick shift, I cycle to work about 3 days a week, including night time commuting. I also live in Boston so...Ma$$holes abound...

Some of the things I would posit...

-our roads suck, lines are hard to see and the lighting is terrible

- absent or awful sidewalks

I used to bike down Mass Ave to Boston Medical Center when I was an intern 10 years ago, but I stopped because it was just too dangerous. Since then, urban roads in Boston (and many other cities) are much more bicycle and pedestrian friendly. IтАЩve seen many changes meant to enhance pedestrian visibility, like raised crosswalks and no parking near crosswalks so drivers can more easily see pedestrians. The decline in urban areas isnтАЩt surprising, but the rise in suburban areas is a real head scratcher!
